AI Transparency Notice

Last updated 29 July 2026

We use AI to help you study, and we would rather be clear about what it can and cannot do than overstate it.

1. Features that use AI

Every other part of the app — courses, assignments, exams, the planner scheduler, citations formatting and progress charts — runs on your own data and rules, not AI.

  • AI Study Coach — chat explanations, guiding questions and study-plan suggestions.
  • Flashcard generation from your notes or uploaded documents.
  • Practice quiz generation and answer explanations.
  • Document summaries, outlines, key terms and section highlights in PDF Study Tools.

2. Responses are automatically generated

AI features produce text automatically from a language model. No human reviews the output before you see it, and the same request can produce different answers.

3. AI can make mistakes

Language models can state incorrect facts confidently, misread a document, or invent citations. Treat AI output as a first draft of your understanding and verify anything important against your course materials and trusted academic sources.

4. How your files are processed

  • Text is extracted from the files you upload so the feature you requested can run.
  • Only the text needed for that request is sent to the AI provider.
  • Your content is not used to train third-party models.
  • Results are stored against your account so you can revisit them.

5. You stay in control

  • AI features only run when you trigger them.
  • You may delete uploaded documents at any time, along with the summaries and cards generated from them.
  • You can use the planner, courses, assignments, exams and citation tools without AI at all.
